Welcome to the presentation of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jakarta!
The German government has a major interest in supporting German trade and thereby intensifying business contacts with companies from important economic regions such as Indonesia. The Energy & Mining Series Indonesia is an ideal forum for the dialogue of German manufacturers with their Indonesian business partners.
The electrical and electronics industry is one of the most important industries in Germany with an aggregate workforce of 816,000 and a total turnover of € 164 Billion in 2010. Germany's electrical and electronics companies manufacture more than 100,000 different products and systems. Serving the needs of international customers with high standards in safety, efficiency and quality is a key concern of German companies. Almost half of the total turnover derives from foreign markets. From January 2011 to February 2011, the growth rate of exports of electrical and electronics products to Indonesia was 15 percent compared to the previous year.
After the USA, Germany is the second largest exporter of Mining Equipment. Especially the Asian region including Indonesia with its wide range of minerals being mined and contributing to the country's prosperity is of particular importance. In 2006, the export of German Mining Equipment to Indonesia amounted to approximately 1 Million €. As the development of the export was moderate in the following years in 2010 the exports increased to 19,3 Million €. This was an increase by more than 400% borne by equipment for crushing and grinding of minerals. We expect a further growth due to the announced investments of the mining industry in Indonesia.
Through the ups and downs of Indonesia's economy in the last years, the Federal Republic of Germany remained its most important trade partner in Europe. The German Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Industry is even planning to increase its exports to Indonesia in the future. The German Engineering industry would be glad to contribute its share for a modernisation and diversification of the Indonesian industry in order to improve its competitive power and the infrastructure locally and abroad.
The German exhibitors will present themselves at a German pavilion, serving as a platform for a mutual exchange and the intensification of existing as well as the establishment of new business contacts. Specialised visitors will be enabled to inform themselves on the wide range of products of the German manufactures. The growing interest of German firms in the fair certainly demonstrates the importance of the Indonesian economy for Germany.
The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA), the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI) and the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) welcome all exhibitors and visitors and wish a successful trade fair visit, interesting contacts and a good exchange of experience between partners.
